CcHUB’s Creative Economy Practice has launched the Content Creative Economy Incubator program alongside the unveiling of the CEP Entertainment Hub in Nairobi.
This dedicated space, a cornerstone of the Entertainment and Media Hubs Program, empowers storytellers in film, television, and the creator economy to create gender-equitable narratives that authentically represent diverse perspectives.
Developed in partnership with Africa No Filter, the program equips African storytellers with gender-equitable storytelling skills, challenging harmful gender norms and promoting positive social change. By providing tailored support, including training, funding, and networking opportunities, the program fosters balanced storytelling that drives meaningful cultural and industry shifts.
The Entertainment Hub, also launching in Lagos, Nigeria, features two fully equipped podcast studios, a media room with a filming area, editing suites, and collaborative workspaces. This hub serves as the physical anchor of the program, providing storytellers with access to essential facilities and fostering a vibrant community of creators.
The program’s four key pillars are:
- Infrastructure: The CEP Entertainment Hub, located at iHUB, James Gichuru Rd., Lavington, provides storytellers with access to cutting-edge facilities.
- Community: The program fosters a supportive community that connects emerging and established creators, industry professionals, and thought leaders.
- Skills Development: Workshops, masterclasses, and hands-on training sessions led by industry experts enhance storytelling skills.
- Grants: Africa No Filter provides grants to support storytellers with innovative ideas that promote transformative and inclusive gender-equitable narratives.
Since its launch in August 2024, the program has made significant strides. Over 150 participants have attended virtual gender-equitable storytelling workshops, and 60 emerging social media content creators have engaged in a three-month Creator Economy Incubator program in Nigeria and Kenya.
In Kenya, the Creator Economy Incubator was co-developed with Njugush Creative and features facilitators including Celestine Ndinda, Judy Nyawira, and Timothy Kimani “Njugush.”
Ojoma Ochai, Managing Director at CcHUB, commented: “We invite all storytellers in Kenya’s film, TV, and Creator Economy sectors to join our community and contribute to a future where storytelling empowers, inspires, and fosters inclusion. Membership offers access to premier facilities, funding opportunities, and valuable connections within the industry.”
Moky Makura, Executive Director of Africa No Filter, added: “Creative hubs are essential for fostering creativity, collaboration, and networking across the continent. This project is particularly exciting because it focuses on creating spaces where people can innovate and produce, not just consume. By offering skills development and state-of-the-art facilities, the CEP Entertainment Hub empowers creatives to transform their ideas into reality.”
