The recently concluded Vambo AI & Futurize Hackathon, part of Kenya Innovation Week 2024, showcased innovative multilingual solutions addressing Africa’s unique challenges.
The 48-hour virtual event sponsored by Meta brought together top African talent to leverage Vambo AI’s cutting-edge multilingual API.
Themed “Multilingual Solutions for Africa,” the hackathon saw over 50 teams compete in categories like EdTech, FinTech, HealthTech, and ClimateTech. Winners included:
- EdTech: Valingo, a multilingual resource tool for refugees and displaced people.
- FinTech: Hazina Africa, a financial AI assistant using native languages.
- HealthTech: NoDozz, a drowsiness detection app with multilingual alerts.
- ClimateTech: A solution leveraging Vambo AI to enhance communication with Lake Victoria communities.
Meta’s Support
Meta’s sponsorship highlighted its commitment to empowering African innovation and digital inclusion.
