The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Frida Boyani Mokaya as the new Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.
This significant role, effective March 2024, marks a milestone in her career.
She takes over from Amadi, who served for ten years from 2014.
“The Commission shortlisted seven (7) candidates who were interviewed on Monday 18th March 2024. Following deliberation and careful consideration of the candidates based on merit, performance and suitability for the position, the JSC has appointed Hon. Mokaya Frida Boyani as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for a five-year term,” the appointment notice read in part.
With over 27 years of experience in the legal field, Frida Boyani Mokaya brings a wealth of knowledge to this position.
Her journey began in 1997, and she has steadily risen through the ranks, holding various positions such as District Magistrate II (Prof), Resident Magistrate, Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate, and Senior Principal Magistrate.
Her rich background demonstrates a commitment to justice and legal excellence.
Hon. Mokaya’s academic achievements include an Upper Second Class Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Additionally, she is a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K).
Mokaya will serve as the judiciary’s Chief Administrator and Accounting Officer in her new capacity.
She will also serve as Secretary to the Judicial Service Commission and Secretary to the National Council on Administration of Justice.
