The 127th edition of the Boston Marathon saw Eliud Kipchoge, the greatest marathoner of all time run his slowest to end up sixth in 2:09.23.
Kipchoge has won four of the six major marathons. However, Boston is the only one he has competed in and failed to win.

On the other hand, defending champion Evans Chebet won the race in 2:05.54, becoming the first repeat men’s champion in Boston after Robert Cheruiyot’s triumph in 2008.
Chebet’s win was the third-fastest time in race history.

Chebet has won five of his last six marathons: Valencia (2:03.00 in 2020), Boston (2:06.51 in 2022), and New York (2:08.41 in 2022).

Hellen Obiri, a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 5,000 meters, won the women’s race in 2:21:38.
Amane Beriso of Ethiopia was second, 12 seconds back, followed seven seconds later by Israeli Lonah Salpeter.
”I tried to be patient and wait for the right time to happen,” said Obiri. “Today was my time.”
