Sharon Wendo, founder of Epica African Jewellery, a Kenyan-based fashion accessories brand, will take her creations to the London Fashion Week in February.
Sharon has been invited to represent Kenya in the British Council Creative DNA Programme on 17 – 19 February.
“I will be showcasing my designs during London Fashion Week as I have been selected to represent Kenya in the British Council Creative DNA Africa Programme,” she said.
“My pieces will be on show at Fashion Scout in an installation featuring seven designers from seven African countries.”
This British Council programme is being hosted and organised by FASHION SCOUT, an award-winning international consultancy and platform renowned for empowering and showcasing the future of fashion.
The Creative DNA Programme in Kenya offers digital and face-to-face mentoring sessions, micro-grants, co-created online campaigns, and UK and Kenyan access to market opportunities.
The programme is focused on promoting alternative and innovative approaches to the global fashion system with the ambition of demonstrating that the fashion sector in Kenya is a professional choice for young people and a valuable contributor to the creative economy.
Sharon Wendo’s designs are reflected in her brand name. They are genuinely Epic African. Her intricate beadwork forms pieces that can be worn to elevate any look.
Epica Jewellery pieces aim to boost women’s confidence and make them stand out and truly feel special.
Other artists that will showcase their work include Fozia Endrias, Ethiopia, Ekuaaddo, Ghana, Baax Studio, Senegal, Fikile Sokhulu, South Africa, IGC Fashion, Uganda and Haus of Stone, Zimbabwe.
