The United States and Kenya have launched a strategic trade and investment partnership to work together on shared priorities.
The partnership will include labour, environment, digital trade, trade facilitation, and good regulatory practices, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said in a statement.
“We also hope this initiative can serve as a model for trade policy engagement in Africa, one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest-growing regions,” U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said.
The United States Trade Representative statement disclosed that the two governments will commence working within three months to develop a detailed roadmap for engagement.
The engagement will be in the areas of Agriculture, Anti-Corruption, Digital Trade, Environment & Climate Change Action, Good Regulatory Practices, MSMEs, and Standards Collaboration, among others.
U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai and Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina launched the partnership at a virtual meeting on Thursday, the USTR said.
