The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is now a full East African community member after it deposited ratification instruments on the EAC Treaty’s accession.
The DRC’s vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen’Apala deposited the instruments to the EAC Secretary General, Peter Mathuki, at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

The formal presentation of the instrument of ratification marked the final phase of admission of the country as the EAC’s seventh member.
DRC now has full rights and privileges like any EAC partner state to participate in all the bloc’s programs and activities and affirms to meet the obligations of the bloc.
