Kenyan schools began the first term of the 2022 school year on April 25 and will end on July 1. According to the academic calendar, there will be a half-term break from May 26 to May 29. Students and pupils will break for one week of the holiday.
After the first term, the schools are expected to reopen in two weeks, from July 11th to September 16, 2022, for the second term. During the term, there will be a midterm for one week from August 6 to 13 to enable General Election to be conducted on August 9.
Term Three of 2022 is scheduled to start from September 26 to November 25, 2022, for 9 weeks with no midterm.
During the term, the current Form Three will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) from December 1 to December 23, 2022. The current Grade Five pupils will sit for the CBC National Assessment and the Kenya Certificate of Basic Education (KCBE) during this term. Then in 2023 (next year), the academic calendar will normalise.
