Global Trade Centre, the Ksh 40 billion business complex in Nairobi’s Westlands is the latest tourist attraction in the city. The 42 – floor -184-meter skyscraper was illuminated in an auspicious ceremony on Wednesday to mark its readiness for occupancy.
The trade centre hosts three new complex towers as well as sports and hospitality facilities- JW Marriott Hotel, 184-metre GTC Tower, GTC Executive Residence and GTC Mall.
This is an urban complex project integrating luxury five-star international hotels, AAA super high-rise office buildings, high-end business apartments, and international boutique supporting commerce.
“The lighting up of the GTC Office Tower was intended to convey our readiness to lease out office space in the newest addition to the skyline in Nairobi,” said Avic’s Kenya Managing Director, Gong Yuxian.
“As the Government of Kenya, we applaud the AVIC team for this milestone, and as a flagship project in Kenya’s Vision 2030, I am proud to see it come to fruition,” said President Uhuru Kenyatta who was the guest.

AVIC International Real Estate Kenya and Marriott International christened the project ‘the Dream City’, GTC boasts of a 32-storey 5-Star hotel, 42-storey tower for offices, and another 32-storey serviced apartments tower.
“The GTC Tower was built pegged on the HOPSCA (hotel, office, parking, shopping mall, convention, and apartment) concept for architecture design. The first of its kind in East Africa with an aim to improve the quality of life and to enhance the residential value of the Westland area,” added Yuxian
HOPSCA projects essentially create the ideal habitat model and address the needs of tenants who are looking for interconnectivity to their surrounding areas.
“In a busy city such as Nairobi, tenants are increasingly looking for versatile premises that can provide their daily needs and activities at their doorstep, eliminating the need to travel to the office or get stuck in traffic to get basic needs such as groceries, and going to the gym,” said Yuxian
Its construction was officially inaugurated on August 18, 2015. During its launch in 2018, Avic MD Wong Yong said “As an emblem o,f the era, it will be remembered as an everlasting lighthouse in the horizon of countless dreams that root deeply on this continent.”
GTC was commissioned Wednesday by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
