Vodacom Tanzania says Hisham Hendi has stepped down as managing director to take on the role of commercial lead in Vodafone Spain.
Hisham joined Vodacom Tanzania in September 2016 as the head of the commercial business unit.
He was promoted to the role of Managing director in August 2018.
“During Hisham’s five-year tenure, Vodacom has continued to lead the industry in implementing a digital strategy that has accelerated the country’s financial inclusion through innovative mobile money services,” Judge Thomas Mihayo, Chairman of the board of Vodacom Tanzania, said.
During his tenure, Vodacom Tanzania was able to list on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).
“I have worked with a good team and I am leaving the locals who are senior leaders working with great efficiency. I am happy to be serving in this great nation.
My experience here in the country is what has made this move possible, I am really proud. I am leaving Tanzania as the country’s ambassador, ”said Hendi.
