On the other hand, Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim, plans to open two stores in July and August in Kisumu.
Other retailers in the region include Khetias Supermarket with two branches, Quick Mart with three outlets and Chandarana Food market, Shivling supermarket.
According to Cytonn Investments, Kenya’s retail sector is experiencing increased investor favour due to the gradual reopening of the economy.
This is based on the sector’s performance in H1 ‘2021 which witnessed a slight improvement of 0.1 per cent rental yield to 7.6 per cent from 7.5 per cent in FY’ 2020 attributed to increased market activities in the retail sector.
