• McGregor will be seeking to avenge his loss to Poirier in January
  • The two will clash in Las Vegas with the winner getting a title-shot against Charles Oliveira

Conor McGregor will be looking to avenge his loss to Dustin Poirier when the two clash at UFC 264 in Las Vegas.

McGregor, 32, was handed his first career defeat by knockout on Fight Island in January, with fans and pundits torn as to whether the Irishman has enough to overcome his game American rival.

The Irishman is not only bidding to avenge his defeat but will also be looking to return to winning ways having lost two of his last three UFC fights.

The former two-weight world champion was full of pleasantries ahead of their fight in January but has now regained his edge and has launched several stinging remarks towards the Louisianan in the past six months.

When the two came face-to-face, McGregor threw a kick at Poirier but The Diamond was unfazed by the Irishman’s antics.

And McGregor attempted to get inside his rival’s head when they met for the first time since January at their press conference on Thursday.

‘You’re getting walked like a dog in that octagon on Saturday night!’, McGregor exclaimed.

The audience in attendance in Sin City responded well to McGregor’s taunts, but Poirier – who admitted to being rattled by his rival when they met in 2014 – was left unimpressed by McGregor’s comments.

‘You used to be a lot better than that,’ Poirier said. ‘The trash talk was a lot better than that. F***ing weak.’
