Argentina are through to the finals of the Copa America after beating Colombia 3-2 on penalties.

The Argentines started the match brightly and had their efforts rewarded when Lionel Messi fed Lautaro Martinez to open the scoring in the 7th minute.

Colombian midfielder Juan Cuadrado then forced Emiliano Martínez into a smart save just seconds later, before the half descended into a slow-paced, stop-start affair in which both sides struggled for rhythm.

Colombia found the equalizer in the 61st minute through a quick freekick that saw Luis Diaz finish from a tight angle.

With no winner after extra-time, the match went to penalties where former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved three penalties to send the team to the finals where they will take on Brazil.
