Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice as Portugal beat Hungary 3-0.

The Portuguese skipper struck a penalty and finished off a superb flowing move late on to give the defending champions a vital win in their opening Group F match.

Hungary put on a spirited performance and kept the champions at bay for long spells of the match.

Borussia Dortmund’s Guerreiro broke the deadlock when his deflected effort left Hungary’s goalkeeper Gulácsi helpless as it found the back of the net.

Ronaldo doubled the lead minutes later from the spot before wrapping the win deep into stoppage when he finished off a superb flowing move.

The two goals from Ronaldo made the Portuguese star greatest ever scorer in European Championships history – breaking Michael Platini’s record.
