Bayern Munich suffered a shocking 2-1 loss away to Mainz.

The Bavarians came into the match knowing that a win would see them seal the league title but were stunned by the hosts in the first half.

An early goal in the third minute by Jonathan Burkardt and another in the 37th minute by Robin Quaison meant that Hansi Flick’s side will have to wait to be crowned this season’s league champions.

Robert Lewandowski pulled one goal back for the visitors deep into stoppage time, but Mainz held on to seal the three points.

Elsewhere, Erling Haaland netted in either half to give Borussia Dortmund a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

The Norwegian international has now scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga this season.

Freiburg and Hoffenheim settled for 1-1 while Union Berlin beat Werder Bremen 3-1.
