Real Madrid picked up a vital win over Granada to move level with Atletico Madrid at the top of the table.
It was Zinedine Zidane’s fifth straight league win on Wednesday night as Granada became the latest victims after wins over Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Eibar.
The game was won by a Casemiro header and Karim Benzema shot. The Brazilian turned in Marco Asensio’s cross.
The French forward scored the second from the edge of the area for his 11th goal in as many games for the club in all competitions.
Madrid were dealt a blow on 35 minutes when Rodrygo tried to sprint clear of Dimitri Foulquier but went down clutching his hamstring and had to be taken off on a stretcher, replaced by Asensio.
The result means that Los Blancos will be level top on Christmas Day.
