UEFA Champions League holders Bayern Munich pooled alongside Atletico Madrid as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will battle in Group G.

The road to Istanbul 2021 has begun with UEFA making the draw for this year’s Champions League group stages.

Holders Bayern Munich will be looking to begin their title-defense against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, Salzburg and a trip to Russia to face Lokomotiv Moskva.

Last season finalists PSG will renew their hunt for the elusive trophy with clashes against Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir.

The draw also presents football fans with a spectacle when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will meet over two-legs in Group G.

The two greats will both have a point to prove for their respective sides which will definitely provide ample entertainment.

Pep Guardiola will be looking to lead his side to European glory against Porto, Olympiacos and Marseille in Group C.

Premier League champions Liverpool will have to navigate their way past Ajax, Atalanta and Midtjylland.

Frank Lampard will be hoping to emulate his side’s heroics back in 2012 when he takes on Sevilla, Krasnodar and Rennes.

Following their trial in the Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Sevilla in Budapest, UEFA are rolling out their reintroduction of fans to stadium.

Only home fans will be able to attend matches with the number allowed in capped at 30 per cent of stadium capacity.

However, plans to allow fans back into sporting events in England from October 1 were pushed back by up to six months.

This means that the English sides will be at a disadvantage when they travel to France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Denmark and Russia which have all allowed sections of supporters back to stadiums.

This year’s final is in Istanbul at the Ataturk Stadium on May 29 where Liverpool produced their unforgettable comeback from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties in 2005.
