Manchester United lose 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace as Zaha scores twice .

The Old Trafford side began their new campaign with a terrible home loss to Crystal Palace.

The visitors went ahead in the 13th minute when Andros Townsend received a precise pass from Jeffrey Schlupp with the former Spurs man beating the goalkeeper with a precise shot that went behind the net to open the scoring.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side pushed to pull level but were not decisive and clinical in the final third.

The manager would send in Mason Greenwood at the beginning of second half to join the team in attack, replacing Daniel James.

United would find themselves even further when the visitors were awarded a penalty on a controversial handball in the area.

Jordan Ayew would have his effort from the spot saved by David De Gea but would have retribution when referee Martin Atkinson ruled that the penalty must be retaken.

Zaha would then step up and take the penalty, sending a powerful shot into the top left corner of the net to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

New signing Donny van de Beek would pull one goal back for the hosts’ minutes after coming off the bench.

Zaha would then earn his brace and seal the win for Roy Hodgson’s side deep into second-half when his fierce shot went past De Gea and into the net.
