Fulham complete signing of PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on season-loan with an option to make the move permanent.

Fulham have confirmed the signing of Alphonse Areola on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and have made an improved offer of £17million for Lyon winger Bertrand Traore.

Areola, 27, has signed for the season with Fulham holding an option to make the move permanent next summer.

Areola arrived as Marcus Bettinelli moved to Middlesbrough for the season.

Speaking to the club’s TV channel, Areola said:

‘Scott Parker called me and I had a good feeling. He said he really wanted me.

‘Fulham is a historic club in London and I have heard a lot about the stadium. I hope this season will be a good one for us. I want to bring my energy and do everything for this team to keep us where we belong to be.’

Fulham have already completed deals for young full-back Antonee Robinson from Wigan and midfield duo Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina, both from Southampton.

Fulham remain in discussions over other positions too.

Talks are ongoing with Lyon over a deal for former Chelsea winger Traore.

Fulham begin their campaign with a London derby as they welcome Arsenal to the Craven Cottage on Saturday.
