The number of cases of the coronavirus disease in Kenya rose to 336 with 16 community transmission cases from Nairobi and Mombasa cities.
According to the country’s Health Ministry Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman, Nairobi county led with 11 cases spread between Dandora (5), City park (2), Eastleigh (1), Parklands (2) and Pipeline (1).
Mombasa’s five cases were reported in Kiembeni (1), Centi Kumi (1), Stadium (1), Msikiti Nuru (1) and Mulaloni (1).
“In the last 24 hours, we have tested 946 samples across twelve (12) counties. This brings to 16,738 the total number of tests conducted so far,” said the CAS.
Dr Rashid said five people were discharged bringing the tally of recoveries to 95. The number of fatalities remains at 14.

“The world has passed another COVID-19 milestone, with over 722, 055 patients now successfully recovered from the virus. In Kenya, we have 89 recoveries so far a clear indication that we are capable of effectively managing and defeating this disease,” said Dr Rashid.
“Kenya’s Covid-19 recovery rate rises to new highs for the 4th straight day. It is currently at 28.3 per cent, above the global rate of 27 per cent,” commented Mihr Thakar, an economist based in Mombasa.
