The Premier League is considering having the 2019/20 season resumed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The management of the league is increasingly considering the resumption of games behind closed doors and at neutral revenues.
Concerns that hosting the matches at original venues and stadiums appear logistically impossible and thus, having the matches in designated stadiums in the south, Midlands and north appears more likely.
This would help in minimizing movement through travel of teams, TV crews and medical workers.
The FA have offered the Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park to be used by the teams should the 2019/20 season be resumed.
The FA are considering completing the Women’s Super League at neutral venues and other sports, including cricket, are examining similar plans.
Old Trafford and Southampton’s Ageas Bowl — each of which has an on-site hotel — are being considered to host England cricket matches.
However, some top-flight clubs are said to be resigned to the idea of the football season being resumed. Some clubs have made arrangements with their players on pay-cuts to help mitigate the financial burden that the clubs are facing.
