Sauti Sol, a Kenyan afro-pop band, composed of vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi has just released a new hit single called ‘Suzanna’, while also revealing the key details for their forthcoming album, Midnight Train.
The release comes after a one year break.
The song titled ‘Suzanna’ tackles the controversial phenomenon of sponsors/blessers.
“I see you in London/ silicone in your bum bum/ shaking what your doctor gave you… You change your skin colour/ and your hair is longer now. Then I see you in Paris/ standing next to the Champs Elysees/ looking sexy in a mini skirt” – they sing cheekily.
” It’s the first jam off our forthcoming album #MidnightTrain. Spread the good vibes” read their post.
This will be their 7th Album the group will be releasing since Sauti Sol came together.
Their previous albums include: Afrikan Sauce, Kenya Awake, Live and Die in Afrika, Home sweet home, Sauti Sol (EP), Sol Filosofia and Mwanzo. Last year, Afrikan Sauce, won the Album Of The Year in All Africa Music Awards, (AFRIMA).
Sauti Sol’s guitarist, producer and composer Polycarp Otieno aka Fancy Fingers says good vibes continue in the new album, “There is a lot of maturity in the album. We have come of age and we express how people should perceive us freely after 11 years as professional singers. Every song speaks to an issue that is relatable to everyone.”
The video has been directed by Leke Alabi-Isama and was shot in Nigeria.
Recently, Sauti Sol bagged a recording deal with Universal Music Africa (UMA). Sauti Sol will benefit from UMG’s global network and engage a new generation of fans throughout Africa via UMG’s continental division, UMA.
