Kenyan Afro-pop group Sauti Sol have been signed by Universal Music Africa (UMA), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG).
“It’s official! Our first major recording deal, Universal Music Group. Thank you guys for being patient. We really hope y’all are ready for the new album,” posted the band.
Sipho Dlamini, UMG Managing Director – South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, described the four man band as one of the most innovative and creative groups in Africa.
“We look forward to working together with Sauti Sol to ensure they are able to authentically celebrate Africa through music and to help introduce their unique blend Afro-pop to new listeners everywhere,” said Dlamini.
Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and Vanessa Mdee are the only other artistes working under UMG in East Africa.
