Uganda’s singing duo Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira were crowned winners of the first edition of East Africa’s Got Talent walking away with a cash prize of $50,000 in the Sunday night finale that had six contestants.

The talented Mutesasira siblings are children to Pastor Stephen Mutesasira and wife Julie Mutesasira.

Rwanda’s Inteyoberana cultural troupe finished second, within touching distance of the grand prize of the $50,000.

Kenya’s 9-year-old singer Janelle Tamara managed to come third.

The other finalists were Comedic Dance Group (Uganda), Dance Alliance Network (Uganda), Jehovah Shalom Acapella (Uganda), and Spellcast (Kenya).

The past nine weeks saw the best of the best compete to win the competition which is part of Got Talent franchise owned by English entertainment mogul Simon Cowell. It drew participation from Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and hosts Kenya.
