Little Cab, a ride-hailing app has said its riders can now hail a taxi by sending their location to a Whatsapp number.
The taxi-hailing service Little powered by Safaricom, says “No need to download Little App, or register yourself. We believe we are the first one in the world to hail a cab right from WhatsApp.”
“All a taxi rider needs to do is save our number 777000777 and share their location through WhatsApp. Once this happens one will automatically be connected to a driver near them. At the end of the trip a customer will also receive a message telling them how much they need to pay for the trip,” said Craftsilicon founder Kamal Budhabhatti.
Little App runs on iOS, Android, and Windows devices. The app accepts cash, card, and Safaricom’s M-Pesa mobile money for payment. It also provides live GPS enabled maps for pickups and offers free Safaricom Wi-Fi to passengers.
Consequently, Uber, its local rival, in August launched a phone option for ordering taxis via its service via toll-free number 0800 722 000 from their mobile phone.
In addition to requesting a taxi, the toll-free number will also allow customers to cancel a trip as well as give them access to the 24/7 customer support feature.
