Santam, a South African financial services group has hired Tavaziva Madzinga to serve as its new chief executive from July 2022.

He will be succeeding Lizé Lambrechts who plans to retire in 2022.

Madzinga will be appointed as executive director from 1 April 2022 and CEO with effect from July 1  2022, the insurer said in a statement on Wednesday.

“She (Lize) will remain in her role as Chief Executive until 30 June 2022 to facilitate a smooth transition to Tava,” the firm says.

Tava joins Santam from Britam Holdings, a diversified investment business listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, where he was Group Managing Director. 

Chairman of the Santam Board, Pinky Moholi said: “Tava comes with excellent insurance experience and business credentials. He will be joining a strong executive team and we are looking forward to his contribution.”
