Former Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez is set to take over as Barcelona manager.
This comes after an agreement was reached to terminate his contract with the Qatari club Al Sadd.
The 41-year-old enjoyed a stellar career with the Catalans, playing 799 games and winning 25 trophies with the side.
Xavi had said publicly he hoped “to go home” as Barca boss and that an agreement could be reached.
The World Cup and two-time European Championship-winning former Spain international left Barcelona for Al Sadd in 2015, first joining the club as a player. He took over as head coach after retiring in 2019 and led them to last season’s league title. They are unbeaten in 36 league games.
Barcelona sit ninth in La Liga and dismissed former boss Ronald Koeman after defeat at Rayo Vallecano.
Sergi Barjuan has been in interim charge, overseeing a draw at home to Alavés and a win at Dynamo Kyiv that has the team second in their Champions’ League group.
He is in line to take charge at Celta Vigo on Saturday before handing over to Xavi.
