Joshua, who came into the match at the back of concerns over his lean frame, struggled throughout the fight to exert any pressure on the undefeated former cruiserweight champion.
The judges ruled 117-112, 116-112 and 115-113 all three in favor of the winner by unanimous decision.
Usyk now becomes the new WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world champion.
