City began the second-half brightly but could not get to test Chelsea’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy who was well covered by the line of defence.
De Bruyne would then get substituted after a collision with Antonio Rudiger leaving City without the creative brilliance of the Belgian.
Chelsea held on, as City continued to press for an equalizer, to clinch their second Champions League trophy.
