• Bayern confirm that Julian Nagelsmann will be their manager next season
  • The RB Leipzig Boss will take over from Hansi Flick who agreed to terminate his contract and become Germany’s new head coach

Bayern Munich have announced Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager to take over from Hansi Flick at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga giants agreed a a world-record £21.7million compensation package with RB Leipzig, to allow Nagelsmann to join them.

Nagelsmann agreed personal terms with the German champions on Monday, before a huge pay-off was sealed and the deal was announced on Tuesday morning.

Nagelsmann has impressed at the helm of RB Leipzig, guiding them to a third-placed finish last season, while this time around they sit second with five games to play.

Current Bayern boss Hansi Flick announced earlier this month that he wants his contract terminated at the end of the season, with last season’s Treble-winning manager strongly linked to the Germany national team role.

RB Leipzig had already let defender Dayot Upamecano join Bayern Munich this summer for £38.5m, with the 22-year-old centre-back signing a five-year deal with the club.

And he will now be joined by his manager in Bavaria, as Bayern look to bounce back in the Champions League having only reached the quarter-finals in their title defence this season.

The Bavarians were at the verge of being crowned as this season’s Bundesliga champions, only for them to suffer defeat away at Mainz on Saturday.
