• A late-winner Porto’s Taremi shocked Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night
  • The Blues held on to win and book place in the semi-finals of the Champions League
  • Thomas Tuchel’s side will take on eventual winners of Liverpool’s clash against Real Madrid
Chelsea edged into the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday with a 2-1 aggregate victory despite a 1-0 defeat by Porto in their last-eight second leg in Seville.
The London side reached the semis for the first time since 2014 after winning last week’s first leg 2-0, although Porto gave them a late scare with Mehdi Taremi’s injury-time goal.
The Londoners, where Kai Havertz and Antonio Rüdiger, unlike Timo Werner, were in the starting line-up, a strong defensive performance against the desperate Portuguese was enough.
The late goal by Mehdi Taremi was too little in the end.

In the empty Estadio Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Porto sought salvation on the offensive with the courage of desperation.

Porto started the match with high speed and great intensity, Chelsea seemed quite surprised.

Tuchel, who even reached the final with Paris St. Germain a year ago, slipped back and forth in the coaching bench, dissatisfied.

Chelsea will now take on the eventual winners of Wednesday’s clash between fellow English-side Liverpool and Real Madrid.
