Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir has temporarily suspended flights to three southern Africa countries.

Rwanda suspended flights to Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia on Monday, citing the new COVID-19 variants reported in the countries. 

“Scheduled flights will resume as soon as there is more clarity on the situation,” the Airline said.

Affected customers were advised to rebook and fly at a later date at no additional cost or request a refund from RwandAir.

South Africa received 1 million doses of the straZeneca-Oxford vaccine however, it said it halted its rollout due to its low efficacy to the new COVID-19 variants (B.1.351).
