Manuel Baum has been relieved of his managerial duties at Schalke after just 10 games in charge.

Baum was brought in to replace former Huddersfield boss David Wagner, who was sacked following their horror start to the new season.

However, Baum did little to change Schalke’s fortunes as he recorded six defeats and four losses. He will be replaced by board member Huub Stevens.

Schalke had brought in Baum to help after their embarrassing 8-0 defeat by Bayern Munich and a 3-1 loss to Werder Bremen.

The club had hoped he could put at end to the dismal form that saw them endure a winless streak that stretched across their last 18 consecutive league games.

However, following Baum’s appointment, Schalke’s winless streak increased to 28 league games and the club now sit bottom of the table with just four points after 12 games.

Schalke board member Stevens will take charge for the club’s last two games of 2020. Those will be against Bielefeld and Ulm in the cup.
