The 2020/2021 Kenya Federation Premier League new season is set to begin this Saturday afternoon.

Kenyan football took a hiatus back in March when the nation announced the first coronavirus pandemic case.

The government unveiled stringent measures that it expects the league to follow even as the country continues to record a surge in Covid-19 infections.

Among the measures unveiled by the Ministries of Health and Sport, fans and spectators will not be allowed at the venue or stadiums of the matches.

All players will also be required to undergo Covid-19 tests at the expense of the event or league organisers every month for the duration of the league.

The opening match will see perennial winners Tusker FC to take on AFC Leopards.

Tusker FC will be hoping to launch a strong shot at the title having made four significant signings. The club will be without seven of their members (five players and two officials) are battling Covid-19.

The Brewers will no doubt miss their last season’s talisman Timothy Otieno who scored 15 goals. Otieno joined Zambia’s top side Napsa Stars on a three-year deal.

AFC Leopards will be hoping to turn their luck after last season’s dismal performance that saw the side finish seventh on 25 points.
