The U.S Government has formally informed Congress that it has rescinded Sudan’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.

US President Donald Trump in a letter on Monday  to the lawmakers said, “I hereby certify, with respect to the rescission of the determination of August 12, 1993, regarding Sudan that: the Government of Sudan has not provided any support for acts of international terrorism during the preceding.”

The latest developments follow Trump’s announcement that the United States was going to remove Sudan from its State Sponsors of Terrorism list after It paid $335 million to US terrorism victims and their families.

In addition, Sudan and Israel agreed to normalize relations according to a joint statement from the three countries.

“The leaders also agreed that delegations will meet in the coming weeks to negotiate agreements of cooperation in those areas as well as in agriculture technology, aviation, migration issues and other areas for the benefit of the two peoples. The leaders also resolved to work together to build a better future and advance the cause of peace in the region,” the joint statement said.
