Manchester United play to goalless draw against Chelsea as Edinson Cavani makes his debut.

At the blow of the final whistle, none of the teams felt they could have had anything better than the solitary point from the match.

The two sides created equal chances but none proved decisive enough to earn the three points.

Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy was called to action severally to deny United, including a curling effort by Marcus Rashford deep into stoppage time. In the first half, he had to dive fast to his right to deny a stop-shot from former Chelsea man Juan Mata who started the match.

N’Golo Kante ran through the midfield characteristic of him, breaking down attacks and making interceptions to deny progress by the hosts.

Edinson Cavani made his debut for Manchester United and was inches away from a debut goal when he glanced wide a header from Bruno Fernandes’ cross just seconds after coming on.

The result leaves United in 15th position with seven points as Chelsea sit in sixth with nine points.

United entertain RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the Champions League while Chelsea travel to Krasnodar on Wednesday.
