Anthony Joshua and Odion Ighalo condemn violence and killings in Nigeria . 

Joshua and Ighalo have weighed in on the ongoing violent protests in Nigeria that have seen scores killed and injured.

Nigerians have been demonstrating nationwide every day for nearly two weeks against a police unit called the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The squad has been accused the unit of extortion, harassment, torture and murders.

While the Unit was disbanded earlier in the month, the protesters have continued taking to the streets calling for an end on police brutality and injustice in the West African nation.

Heavyweight champion Joshua has weighed on the matter following the alleged shooting of the peaceful protesters by the country’s army on Tuesday.

Videos shared on Twitter show the protesters on the streets before the army opened fire on them, killing and injuring scores of the protesters.

Manchester United’s striker Odion Ighalo recorded and shared a video on which he said:

‘The Nigerian government, you guys are a shame to the world for killing your own citizens, sending military to the streets to kill unarmed protesters because they are protesting for their own rights? It’s uncalled for.

‘You people will be remembered in history as the first government to send the military to the city to start killing their own citizens. I am ashamed of this government, we are tired of you guys and we can’t take this anymore.’
