Errol Spencer admits to relishing clash with Canelo Alvarez.

Errol Spence Jnr has talked up a middleweight ‘mega-fight’ against Mexico’s Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – but only when fans can return in full to witness it.

Spence Jnr, a Texas resident, is keen to fight Alvarez at Dallas Cowboys’ 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium given the scale of the contest, if an agreement was made between them.

He boasts a perfect 26-0 professional record at welterweight – which is 147 pounds. A move to middleweight, where Canelo has dominated, would see Spence need to go up to 160 pounds.

Speaking to The Sun, Spence Jnr said:

‘With Canelo, yeah, I’d definitely entertain that. That can happen, that’s a huge fight,’

‘That would be huge for the Cowboys’ stadium when we’re back to 100 per cent capacity.

‘That’s another mega-fight which I could have. I could have a lot of mega-fights.

‘It takes quite a few pounds to get down to 147. I wouldn’t have any problems fighting at 160.’

Both fighters have never lost a contest in Texas with Canelo three-for-three and Spence Jnr six-for-six.

Spence Jnr returns to the ring in December following continued delays to his fight against Danny Garcia.

The Texas fighter was due to face Garcia back in January but his involvement in a serious car accident last October saw the bout pushed back.

It is expected a limited number of fans will be eligible to attend Spence’s WBC and IBF title defence against Garcia on December 5.
