Tyson Fury urged to fight Otto Wallin after trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder collapsed.
Tyson Fury should take on former opponent Otto Wallin after moving on from his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, according to the Swedish star’s promoter.
The Gypsy King was set to face the American in December, but he confirmed the report that the fight had been abandoned, saying he had given up on the trilogy bout after the Bronze Bomber failed to agree a concrete date.
Fury stunned Wilder by stopping him in February to become the WBC heavyweight champion of the world and is now looking ahead to a potential all-British undisputed bout with Anthony Joshua in 2021.
But with Joshua facing a mandatory clash against Kubrat Pulev at the end of this year, Fury is set for a warm-up fight in London, and has now been called to agree a rematch with Wallin by his promoter Dmitriy Salita.
Fury beat Wallin via a unanimous decision in Las Vegas last year, but he was badly hurt by the 29-year-old and suffered a deep cut below his right eye – which required 47 stitches.
Salita insists Wallin, whose solitary career defeat came against Fury, is keen for revenge and is much more dangerous than Wilder.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salita said:
‘Otto called me as soon as he read about the possible fall out and said, “Let’s get the rematch, I am going to beat him!”
‘Out of all the world-class opponents that Fury beat, including Wladimir Klitschko and Wilder, Otto landed more punches and did more damage in the ring than anyone else.’
