World record holder Eliud Kipchoge once again proved no human is limited after he let his world record of 2:01:39 slip away from him during the 40th London Marathon on Sunday, October 4.

Kipchoge had been expected to lead pack immediately the race kicked off with stiff competition from Mo Farah.

However, Kenya’s Vincent Kipchumba finished second behind Ethiopia’s Kitata.

Farah, however, disappointed many after he dropped out of the race.

The world was anticipating fireworks at the race when suddenly, the great Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia dropped out due to injury.

The two were the world’s greatest and this was tipped to be a race battle between the two sharing the same platform.

Bekele holds his record at 2:01:41 recorded in the 2019 Berlin race in 2018 while Kipchoge held the record at 2:01:39.

Earlier, Kenyans were filled with joy after world record holder Brigid Kosgei won her second London Marathon title clocking 2:18:58.

Compatriot Kosgei Ruth Chepngetich crossed the line in third position after she was overtaken by American Sarah Hall who came from behind and sprinted the last mile to the finish line.
