Everton beat Brighton 4-2 at Goodison Park.

Everton continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-2 win over Brighton at Goodison Park.

It was Carlo Ancelotti’s fourth win of the campaign that propelled them back to the summit of the table with 12 points.

James Rodriguez was phenomenal as he scored twice and set one up for Colombian World Cup team-mate Mina.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his impressive start to the campaign when he opened the scoring in the 15th minute from a Gylfi Sigurdsson assist.

It was Calvert-Lewin’s ninth goal in six matches, which the Merseyside blue fans will be hoping is a start to a remarkable season for them.

Jordan Pickford would gift Neal Maupay an undeserved Brighton equaliser after 41 minutes when a poor handling of the ball fell at Maupay to level the score.

Everton got back into the lead when James curled an excellent free-kick into the danger zone and Mina powered in a header.

Everton started the second half fast as well. Calvert-Lewin had a shot charged down before he turned provider for Everton’s third goal with the move of the match after 52 minutes.

He played in Alex Iwobi whose cutback to Rodriguez was dispatched by the Colombian, who arced his body brilliantly to connect with a half-volley.

Rodriguez got his second when fellow signing Doucoure clipped the ball to him before placing the ball with his right foot to make sure of the game.

Yves Bissouma got one back for the visitors in the dying minutes of the match, but the result was already clear.
