Barcelona keen on sealing a move for Memphis Depay

Barcelona keen on sealing a move for Memphis Depay.

The Spanish side are committed to bringing the attacker to the Nou Camp following the departure of Luis Suarez to rivals Atletico Madrid.

The winger was set to join the club earlier this month having agreed a £28m deal to him to the club.

Ronald Koeman has been keen on signing the 26-year-old, who he knows very well from his time coaching the Dutch national team.

A report by Mundo Deportivo states that Depay is an attainable target for Barcelona as he is within their current salary budget.

Depay joined Lyon in January 2017 after a disastrous spell at Manchester United who he joined in the summer of 2015 for £25m.

Since joining Lyon, Depay has shown much more maturity and has improved from his days at Old Trafford, scoring 57 goals in 140 appearances.

Depay’s versatility – he can operate effectively as a striker or on either flank – is hugely appealing to Barcelona.

The club are hoping to bounce back strong after a disastrous season where they lost the LaLiga title to their biggest rivals Real Madrid, and were humiliated in their Champions League exit following an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Barcelona begin their league campaign on September 27 against Villareal.
