Incredible drama as Man United beat Brighton after final whistle had been blown.
Drama at the Amex Stadium saw Manchester United earn a 3-2 win over Brighton in the 99th minute.
Brighton took the lead in the first half when Neal Maupay scored the opener from the penalty spot after Bruno Fernandes was adjudged to have fouled Tariq Lamptey in the area.
Maupay converted the resultant penalty to give the hosts the lead. United drew level minutes later through an own-goal by Lewis Dunk.
Early in the second-half, Brighton appeared to have gotten a second penalty when Paul Pogba appeared to have held Aaron Connolly in the box. Referee Chris Kavanagh pointing to the spot for a second Brighton penalty.
The joy was cut-short when VAR ruled that the player had actually tripped himself. Minutes later, a VAR review canceled a United goal by Marcus Rashford for offside.
The visitors would take the lead in the 54th minute when Fernandes lofted a ball to Rashford who won a foot-race with Brighton’s Ben White to put the ball into the net.
The hosts mounted more pressure on United’s backline that looked nothing but leaky and got their reward in the 94th minute through Solly March.
It looked like a deserved point as the referee blew the final whistle. With the players leaving the field, Harry Maguire and co gathered around the referee calling for a review of his header that appeared to have struck a hand.
As soon as Kavanagh started his walk to check the pitch-side monitor, the outcome was inevitable. United were awarded a penalty which Bruno Fernandes converted.
As it was, Brighton took the plaudits but United the points.
