Naomi Osaka beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to win the US Open title.

Osaka rallied from a set down and looked to trail 3-0 in the second as she took on Victoria Azarenka in the US Open title finals.

It brought 22-year-old Osaka’s haul of tennis major trophies to three after her victories at the 2018 US Open and 2019 Australian Open.

The Belarusian gave early notice of the challenge she would pose by breaking in the first game, helped by an edgy double fault.

Proceedings were going along at such a lick that Osaka winning seven out of eight games seemed to happen in the blink of an eye.

It was a win to savour as the Japanese-born, American-bred athlete lad down in the middle of the court and looked up at the sky in celebration.
