Judge orders La Liga’s first match of the match postponed.
The first game of the new La Liga season between Granada and Athletic Bilbao set for Friday has been postponed.
While passing the judgment, the judge from the nation’s football federation ruled that matches could not be scheduled for Fridays or Mondays.
The decision means that the fixture between Alaves and Real Betis scheduled for Monday will have to take place on Sunday.
The league’s management announced that they would lodge an appeal against the decision to allow matches to happen outside the weekends.
The league management has been at a disagreement over the scheduling of matched on Mondays and Fridays.
While the league’s president Javier Tebas insists that the matches attract more viewers and add value to broadcasting rights’ deals, the federation chief Luis Rubiales argued that the games are harder for fans to attend.
Reigning champions Real Madrid will begin the defense of their title on Sunday, hosting Getafe at the Bernabeu stadium.
Arch-rivals are set to begin their campaign on Sunday against Elche at the Nou Camp stadium.
