Inter Milan’s group of former Premier League players set to feature in the Europa League final.
Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Victor Moses, Ashley Young and Christian Eriksen all made the switch from England to join Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan squad.
And as the Italian prepares to lead the side in the Europa League final on Friday night, many will sit back and marvel at the work the former Chelsea manager has done with the squad.
While their campaign for domestic glory did not materialize sufficiently, Inter find themselves with a short at glory since last winning the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) in 2011.
Over the past several years Conte has carved out a reputation for himself as a man who hits the ground running, quickly shaping his teams into ruthlessly efficient outfits to hunt down the biggest prizes.
Key in his campaign this season has been one Romelu Lukaku.
The man jeered at Old Trafford for his poor first-touch, inability to turn up during big matches as well as questions on his big weight has turned into a different man at San Siro.
Lukaku has been a man reborn this season, with a burning desire to prove critics wrong. Records have tumbled, with Lukaku becoming the first player ever to score in 10 consecutive Europa League games.
Another face from Old Trafford on a resurgence is Ashley Young. Since making his switch in January, the 35-year old has scored four goals and assisted four in 18 Serie A matches. His killer crosses from wing still possessing radar-like accuracy.
Former Chelsea man Victor Moses has been another face brought to Italy. In him, Conte saw a player with plenty to offer to the team but struggling to land consistency in his performances.
While Moses has struggled in fits and starts at the San Siro, he has provided a mightily impressive five assists in 12 Serie A matches.
Alexis Sanchez. A player once deemed the best in the Premier League made a loan-switch to Italy after failing to impress since making a shock move from Arsenal to Manchester United.
While the Chilean suffered an injury early on following his move to San Siro, the Chilean made a return and has provided four goals in 22 appearances, not a mean fete for a player labeled finished.
Christian Eriksen left Tottenham in January in search for a new challenge.
While the Dane has found himself in the rotating role, he has been impressive at the European stage. The playmaker has two goals and one assist in five Europa League matches.
90 minutes against perennial winners Sevilla Fc at Cologne stand between Conte and his batch of Premier League oddities from European success.
