Borussia Dortmund is ready to offer Jadon Sancho a new contract.

The German side wants to offer the Englishman a new deal with a sizeable salary increase if Manchester United does not match their price.

United are keen to sign the England international but feel that the £108million asking is way too high amid the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The new deal by Dortmund is to try and tempt Sancho to stay at the Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund are willing to offer Sancho a new contract with a pay increase if United don’t meet their price
Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer

A report by German newspaper Bild reports that the German side is keen to tie down the England star with an enhanced deal on the £190,000-a-week he currently earns.

The report indicates that Sancho’s annual salary will be increased from 6 million euros (£5.4m) to 10 million euros (£9m), his third contract improvement since joining Dortmund in 2017. His present deals run until June 30, 2022.

However, that wage packet is still considerably less than Sancho would be offered at Old Trafford, which reportedly would around the £340,000-a-week mark.

Dortmund has used this tactic before to keep hold of important players for a little longer, including striker Robert Lewandowski, who was wanted by Bayern Munich in 2013 but moved in 2014.

The same happened with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before he joined Arsenal.

United’s deal for Sancho, 20, looked to be close to fruition early last week but the asking price continues to prove a stumbling block.

Dortmund are adamant that Sancho will be sold to United only if they pay £108m for him
