Manchester United threaten to pull out of Sancho deal

Manchester United threaten to pull out of Jadon Sancho deal.

United are ready to walk away from the mega deal for the Dortmund star.

Dortmund are demanding £108million for the 20-year-old winger, but Old Trafford sources insisted on Tuesday night that the two sides remain far apart in their valuations.

United believe the Germans are being unrealistic in the current economic climate with even the world’s biggest clubs being hit hard by the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

Manchester United threaten to pull out of their sensational £108million deal for Jadon Sancho

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has warned that transfer fees are going to be significantly lower this year, but that has not stopped Dortmund holding out for a figure that would smash the British record £89m United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.

The Premier League club have a list of alternative targets – believed to include Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman – and will pursue those if they cannot find common ground over Sancho.

United are also reluctant to be held to what they consider to be an artificial deadline of August 10 after Dortmund indicated that they want any deal completed before they leave for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

It’s also understood that United have not reached an agreement over the player’s personal terms.

United have been more disciplined since handing Alexis Sanchez an astronomical deal worth up to £560,000-a-week in January 2018, and are determined not to break their wage structure.

While United remain very keen on Sancho and hopeful of completing the transfer, the latest developments are a clear indication that they will not allow Dortmund to dictate negotiations.
