Manchester United and Chelsea booked a place at the prestigious European Competition with comprehensive wins as the Premier League came to a close on Sunday. 

Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard were on target as United marched back into the third position and secured a spot at next season’s Champions League.

Mason Mount inspired Chelsea to a vital win over Wolves to grab the fourth position.

United was awarded a spot-kick when Anthony Martial was brought down by Johnny Evans and Wes Morgan who were scampering back.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted the resultant penalty to get his eighth goal since his January move from Sporting Lisbon.

Jesse Lingard sealed the three points for United when he capitalized on an error by Leicester’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the dying minutes to put the ball into the back of the net.

Mason Mount rounded up a terrific debut season with a goal and assist to send Frank Lampard’s side to Champions League next season.

The young Englishman put the Blues ahead with a superb free-kick deep into first-half stoppage time before providing an assist to Olivier Giroud who fired home from close range to seal the points for Chelsea.

The result capped off a remarkable season for Frank Lampard in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
