Manchester United keen on permanent moves for Sanchez and Smalling

Manchester United will not extend loan spells for Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling.

United have indicated that they are not willing to extend the duo’s current loan deals.

Smalling and Sanchez have been on a season-long loan with AS Roma and Inter Milan respectively. Their loan deals were set to end in June but extended until the first week of August so that they could play out the current campaign that was curtailed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the current agreement the two players will return to Old Trafford after the final scheduled Serie A matchday on August 2.

According to Sky Sports, United are focused on sealing permanent deals for the duo to help boost their summer transfer kitty.

Ole Gunnar Solsjkjaer is keen to bolster his squad with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho among the names he looks to sign in the summer.

The Norwegian is said to be looking for a top centre back to pair with Harry Maguire at the back.

United spent big last summer in bringing in the former Leicester defender alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James as well as January signing of Bruno Fernandes.

United will be looking to seal a top four spot when they travel to fellow Champions League contenders Leicester City on Sunday at the King Power Stadium.

The Red Devils are still in hunt for European glory with the Europa League that resumes in August. United play Austrian side LASK and are favorites to go through.

Solsjkjaer’s side sit third on the Premier League table tied with Chelsea on 63 points and travel to Leicester on the last day of the season
